At the ICE Brighton Winter Special we have a whole programme of great events for you to enjoy.

To kick off the expo on Friday 8th March at the super cool Mesmerist Pub VIP ticket holders only are invited to our exclusive VIP Launch Party from 19.30 onwards, where you can rub shoulders with our amazing guest list. Soak up the atmosphere at one of Brighton’s best nightlife venues and kick off your expo in style.

Then on the Saturday at the main Holiday Inn Seafront venue we have the following special events featuring our guests, which are free to all ticket holders.

11.00 – 12.00 – Myths and Legends

Brave the world of gods and giants with Brighton storyteller and comic author Jon Mason, in an edge-of-your seat retelling of old Norse myths. Loki, Lord of Lies, is himself tricked ~ fooled by a ferocious enemy plotting to steal the gods’ secret of eternal life: Idunn’s Golden Apples. Packed with danger, magic, shape-shifting, defiance and humour, this centuries-old story sets the stage for The Marriage of Njord and Skadi, the new comic by Jon Mason and illustrator Simon Russell which launches at ICE Brighton.

12.00 – 13.00 –  Guest Interview – with Ram V – Hosted by Leonard Sultana

It warms our hearts to see hard working creators move from the obscure world of self publishing to the realms of mainstream comics and Ram is one such success story, now working on books for DC Comics and Valiant Comics just a few years after releasing his first indy book.

Join Jessica Kemp as she interviews Carla Berrocal and new Comics Laureate Hannah Berry talking to them about their work and there experiences as  original artists in the ever changing modern comic industry

14.00 – 15.00 – Panel – 2000ad: Past and Future –  Join our panel of top 2000ad creators Glenn Fabry, Dan Cornwell, Clint Langley and Guy Adams as they talk about the greatest moments in 2000ad history and look forward to it’s future.

15.00 – 16.00 – Interview – Marco Santucci and Maria Laura

Join Italy’s nicest comics couple as they talk to Joel Meadows about their individual careers at at publishers like DC Comics, Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics and what it’s like being married to another comic artist.

16.00 – 17.00 – Interview – Rachael Smith – Interviewed By Leonard Sultana

Here at ICE we love to shine the spotlight on the super stars of the future.

Rachael Smith is a comic artist and writer. She has created numerous, critically acclaimed comic books including House Party, Artificial Flowers, Wired Up Wrong, and The Rabbit, which was nominated for Best Book in the 2015 British Comic Awards, following her nomination for Emerging Talent the previous year. Rachael has also worked on Titan’s Doctor Who Comic series, and is a regular contributor to Empathize This, a website which gives a platform to marginalised voices through the medium of comics. Join this conversation about Rachael’s journey from clueless doodler to professional comic creator, and find out how to get your own start in the industry.
