Cam Smith Confirms for The ICE Winter Special in Brighton

CAM SMITH-03-01-2017 at 11.19 #3crp

Cam Smith is UK comic book artist. He is mainly known for his inking work for Marvel and DC but he also produces full art. Cam recently finished a long run inking Amazing Spiderman followed by Darth Vader for Marvel. Currently, He’s working on various projects for both Marvel and DC.

He has previously worked on Uncanny X-Men, Superman, Hulk, Batman, the Fantastic Four, and many other characters. Cam is a solitary creature who spends his days in a book filled room making black marks on white paper. The idea that he can make a living from this activity is a constant source of bemusement.

His only sadness being that the days seem so short and “if only days were longer one could make even MORE black, inky, marks.” Someday, Cam hopes to venture outside, into the sunlight, where other creatures roam. But he would only ever do so briefly, in order to inspire further frantic, inky, scribbling…

From the charity: “Carousel is a learning disability led arts charity, based in Brighton for over thirty years. We work with learning disabled people in film, music, digital and broadcast arts and our artists are at the heart of everything we do.

Last year, in partnership with the University of Birmingham, we created Curing Perfect, an online graphic novel which won Gold at the Sussex Digital Awards for best app.

Illustrated by William Hanekom, it was also turned into a printed comic with text by Jason Eade. Comics are a great way of communicating ideas and stories and we’re thrilled to be the chosen charity for this year’s ICE Summer Special in Brighton”.

We have some great items up for grabs including signed prints, artwork and signed books from ICE guests both past and present.

Latest Official ICE 2017 Cosplayer Announced

ICE Brighton welcomes our third official Cosplayer in the form of Onyxeia for our Summer Special Event next month.

“Hey, my name is Leanne and I am a cosplayer and model by the name of Onyxeia. I am from Chichester, West Sussex! I have always been into video games, comics and especially dressing up.

Black Cat Leanne - 25

After visiting my first convention when I was young, I saw some people dressed up as my favourite characters from a TV show and since then I was hooked on cosplay. I have now been modelling and cosplaying properly for 2 years, I have cosplayed many characters such as Marvel’s Black Cat, Nidalee from League of Legends, Metroid’s Samus Aran and  a few from World of Warcraft, my favourite franchise.

I have guested at many local cons and really enjoy meeting new people and other cosplayers. I hand make most of my cosplays as I’ve always been artistic and find huge satisfaction from wearing something I’ve made from scratch. I’d love to one day be cosplaying professionally, but I’m currently training in my dream job to be a tattoo artist.

I am an apprentice at The Electric Lady in my home town Chichester and hope to one day be doing nerdy and fantasy tattoos as well as makin cosplays in my free time. I’m looking forward to improving my making skills with each and every cosplay I make.”

Onyxeia joins a great team of official cosplayers at the event and if you want to join them at the expo this year you can even claim a cosplayers discount providing you cosplay as a comic character from Marvel, DC Comics or other well known comics publishers.
